Over the past six months it has been an exciting festival run for two of R31’s films, Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness and The Fantasy Makers, that has included many awards and accolades…

Starting in February, Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness took the Best Feature Documentary Award at the Real to Reel Film Festival in Winnipeg. A month later the film would receive a Rising Star Award at the Canadian International Film Festival in Vancouver. In April both films competed at the 52nd WorldFest-Houston in Texas where The Fantasy Makers screened and took home a Gold Remi Award and Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness received a Special Jury Remi Award. Both films returned to Texas in July at the sixth annual Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase where Suspended won Best Overall Foreign Feature and the Higher Love Award. The Fantasy Makers was nominated for Best International Feature Documentary and Best Overall International Feature.

Both films have now just recently competed at the Vegas Movie Awards in Las Vegas (September edition) where The Fantasy Makers won Best Documentary – Award of Excellence (1st overall) and Suspended won Best Documentary – Award of Prestige (2nd overall). Andrew Wall also took home Best Editor – Award of Prestige (2nd overall) for his work on Suspended. The Fantasy Makers will now go onto compete in the season final in 2020 in Las Vegas.

Vegas Movie Awards (VMA) is a monthly competition and annual Film Festival for filmmakers worldwide, based in the most dynamic city in the world. We celebrate and support Independent, new, and alternative filmmakers: we believe in fresh voices, capable of doing original, edgy, risky films that defy the mainstream. – VMA

Previous to this all, in 2018 The Fantasy Makers took home an Award of Excellence at the Accolade Global Awards and a Platinum Award at the International Screen Awards as well as being nominated at the CEVMA Film Awards for Best Docu-Drama. Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness received Best Documentary Feature at the Eau Claire Film Awards, Best Foreign Documentary at the Great Lakes Christian Film Festival and an Award of Exceptional Merit at the Docs Without Borders Film Festival.

While it’s been a busy and wonderful festival run for these films, R31 has been busy in production with numerous other projects during this time. In the year to come, we hope they will be as well received and appreciated as The Fantasy Makers and Suspended.
