Refuge 31 had a busy weekend shooting some period scenes for the documentary Last Stop to Armageddon. Trenches, gas, some fantastic Living History Presenters  and lots of action made for an incredible amount of fun.

The trenches being shot at are part of the Manitoba World War 1 Museum. A phenomenal collection of artifacts, photographs and uniforms have been assembled there by it’s director Bruce Tascona who then created an actual trench system for visitors to experience.

The 22 minute documentary, made with support from the World War Commemoration Fund / Heritage Canada, examines the First World War and its relevance to today’s generation. Filming will include period re-enactments and interviews in both Manitoba and Ottawa. Completion of film set for December 2015.

Manitoba shooting done, now it’s off to Ottawa for interviews and research!

Special thanks to the Royal Canadian Artillery Museum, National Defence and Bruce Tascona for such great locations!
