This week Refuge 31 is filming for its documentary Last Stop to Armageddon in rural Manitoba out at CFB Shilo, Pilot Mound and Camp Hughes.

Yesterday was a windy, sunny and beautiful experience at the former troop training grounds at Camp Hughes. The World War 1  heritage site, including the only remaining WW1 trench system in North America, is a haunting reminder of a dark period in history and the sacrifice that was made by Canada to win.

The 22 minute documentary, made with support from the World War Commemoration Fund / Heritage Canada, examines the First World War and its relevance to today’s generation. Filming will include period re-enactments and interviews in both Manitoba and Ottawa. Completion of film set for December 2015.

Special thanks to the Royal Canadian Artillery Museum, National Defence and Bruce Tascona for such great locations!
